Description
A Urea Test (also called a Blood Urea Nitrogen or BUN test) measures the amount of urea nitrogen in your blood. Urea is a waste product produced by the liver when proteins are broken down and is excreted by the kidneys. This test helps assess kidney function, as elevated urea levels can indicate impaired kidney function or other conditions affecting the kidneys, liver, or hydration status.
