Description
Glycosylated Hemoglobin (GHb or HbA1c) is a blood test that measures the average blood glucose levels over the past 2-3 months. It shows the percentage of hemoglobin coated with glucose, providing a long-term indicator of blood sugar control. This test is crucial for managing diabetes, as it helps evaluate how well blood sugar levels have been controlled over time. Normal HbA1c levels are typically below 5.7%; levels between 5.7% and 6.4% may indicate prediabetes, and levels of 6.5% or higher suggest diabetes.
