Description

The Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) assesses how well the body processes glucose and is commonly used to diagnose diabetes or gestational diabetes. In a 1+1 sample test, the patient first has a fasting blood sample taken, then drinks a glucose solution. After one hour, a second blood sample is taken to measure blood glucose levels. Elevated levels in either sample can indicate impaired glucose tolerance or diabetes, warranting further evaluation or monitoring.
