Description

The Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) in Pregnancy, also known as the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), is a screening tool for gestational diabetes. In a 1+1 sample test, the expecting mother has an initial fasting blood sample taken, then drinks a glucose solution. After one hour, a second blood sample is taken to measure blood glucose levels. If glucose levels are above the recommended threshold, it may suggest gestational diabetes, and additional testing may be needed for confirmation. This test helps ensure that both mother and baby stay healthy throughout pregnancy.
