Description

The CA15.3 test measures the level of cancer antigen 15-3 (CA15.3) in the blood, which is a tumor marker primarily associated with breast cancer. Elevated levels of CA15.3 can indicate the presence of breast cancer, especially in advanced stages, and may also be used to monitor treatment response and detect recurrence after treatment. However, elevated CA15.3 levels can also occur in benign conditions such as liver disease or other cancers, so this test is not used for standalone diagnosis. A blood sample is required for the CA15.3 test, and results are interpreted alongside clinical evaluations and imaging studies to provide a comprehensive assessment of a patient’s condition.
