The ANCA – P (Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies – P) test measures the presence of antibodies directed against neutrophil cytoplasmic components, specifically proteinase 3 (PR3). This test is primarily used to help diagnose autoimmune conditions such as granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener’s granulomatosis) and other forms of vasculitis. Elevated levels of ANCA – P can indicate an active autoimmune response that may cause inflammation and damage to blood vessels and organs. The test is performed on a blood sample and is interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings and other diagnostic tests to determine the appropriate management and treatment strategies.
