Description
Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) Analysis is a test that measures oxygen (PaO₂), carbon dioxide (PaCO₂), blood pH, and bicarbonate (HCO₃⁻) levels in arterial blood. It assesses how well the lungs are oxygenating the blood and removing CO₂, as well as the body’s acid-base balance. ABG analysis is used to diagnose and monitor respiratory and metabolic conditions, such as respiratory failure, metabolic acidosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It’s crucial in critical care and emergency settings to guide treatment decisions.
